Challenge
Salam Studio and Stores is a well-established department store that first opened its doors in Qatar in 1952. With new international department stores that are emerging in the Qatar market, it is time to freshen things up. We were asked to refresh the brand in order for it to be instantly recognizable in a noisy retail world, to appeal to a diverse audience and to promote their strongest unique selling point, that their roots are firmly anchored here in Qatar.
Solution
We hosted workshops with the clients marketing team and CEO, exploring the core values of Salam Stores, reviewed their existing brand language and brainstormed during creative orientations. Keeping to the previous minimal use of a bright hue of green, we made it our primary colour thus instantly making the brand recognizable in a busy mall. The “Qataf”, known as the national flower of Qatar was introduced to symbolize the country’s roots, but also the brand’s blossoming business at home. We also created a 65-year anniversary logo to compliment the brand and highlight the longevity of their presence in the country.
